PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dry wood at a high speed under a high temperature condition without causing deformation such as cracking, warpage, bending or the like.;SOLUTION: Wood 1 is coated with a material having good heat conductivity and heat resistance, for example, an aluminum foil 2 and the coated wood is placed under a high temperature (about 200°C) environment not exceeding an ignition point in a drying chamber 3 and dried. Since a drying process advances in a high temperature steam baking state, the surface and interior of the wood are almost equally dried and a phenomenon wherein the wood is cracked from the surface thereof is not caused at all and deformation such as warpage, bending or the like is not brought about. Further, since the wood is dried under a high temperature environment, the time required for drying can be shortened considerably.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
