PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sluice gate which can surely prevent the leaking of water through mating surfaces even if the shrinkage rate of materials is great. ;SOLUTION: A wooden sluice gate comprises a flat gate main body 2 formed by fastening a plurality of stacked pieces 3(3b) of square timber together. A core piece 5 of timber is mounted between the mating surfaces 4 of the adjacent pieces 3 of square timber. Also, a leakage-prevention mechanism 20 is formed on the mating surface 4. The leakage-prevention mechanism 20 has grooves 21, 22 extending in the longitudinal direction of the mating surface 4 and a waterproof elastic member 24 packed into the grooves 21, 22. Therefore, even if the square timber 3 shrinks, the elastic member 25 is deformed to compensate for the shrinkage, avoiding formation of a gap between the mating surfaces 4. Thus even if wood of great shrinkage rate is used, the leaking of water through the mating surfaces 4 can surely be prevented.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
