PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for dyeing a dyeing material with a direct dye in a water-recycling system, enabling to dye the material in a uniform state free from an irregularly dyed site. SOLUTION: In this method for dyeing a material with a direct dye in a system wherein water used in a dyeing bath is recycled and reused in the dyeing bath, the electric conductivity of the dyeing solution to be charged into the dyeing bath is set to a lower value than the electric conductivity of the recycled water.
