PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method for automatically correcting the tilt of a face area corresponding to the face of a person in an original image. PSOLUTION: The image processing method of this invention includes the steps of detecting positions corresponding to both eyes of the person in the original image on the basis of image data of the original image including the face area corresponding to the face of the person, correcting the original image so that the detected positions corresponding to both the eyes of the person in the original image are placed on a line in parallel with a preset reference line to the original image or a straight line orthogonal to the reference line, and generating corrected image data.
