The chair has a chest support variable in height for each person and permitting an inclination of the trunk towards the front to release abdominal weight compressing the lungs in sleeping or semi-seated position and to horizontalize a diaphragm. A support arm is adjustable in an antero-posterior plane and in height and ensures that non respiratory muscles are at rest and respiratory auxiliary muscles e.g. scalenus muscle, are at work.
