Calcium composition (I) comprises optionally elementary calcium in the form of calcium carbonate, calcium lactate and/or calcium citrate; and vitamin D3; vitamin K1, K2 and/or vitamin K3/K4, where calcium helps in mineralization of bone, vitamin-D3 helps in calcium absorption by body and vitamin K helps in optimal carboxylation of bone protein (osteocalcin or matrix gamma protein) and others to supply calcium to the bone and prevent calcification of blood vessels and cartilage in the joints. (I) is useful to prevent-treat osteoporosis, atherosclerosis and articular cartilage calcification. Calcium composition (I) comprises optionally elementary calcium in the form of calcium carbonate, calcium lactate and/or calcium citrate (50-1500 mg); 40-1600 IU vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) (1-40 mu g); vitamin K1 (phylloquinone), K2 (menadione) and/or vitamin K3/K4 from plant, bacteria or fermentation (10 mu g to 2 g), where calcium helps in mineralization of bone, vitamin D3 helps in calcium absorption by body and vitamin K helps in optimal carboxylation of bone protein (osteocalcin, matrix gamma protein) and others to supply calcium to the bone and to prevent calcification of blood vessels and cartilage in the joints.
