The fire-resistant cover (1) for screening a built-in lamp or similar prevents fire spread or retards it when caused by overheating of combustible material under the influence of heat emitted by an electric light source. The cover is casing-shaped and is made of fire-resistant material which is mouldable and has spring force. The casing (2) is cylindrical, closed at one end and open at its other outer end (4). At the open outer end the casing has a collar (5), and at the closed outer end are perforating (6). The fire-resistant material is composed of a binder, carbon and sodium silicate, a fraction of the carbon preferably being graphite. The binder can be a silicon and/or a latex and/or polyurethane or a glue. It is also possible for the fire-resistant material to incorporate stiffening fibers.
