COMPOSITION OF METAL POWDER, FERROUS METAL MIXTURE, METHOD FOR PREPARING A MIXTURE OF IRON METAL POWDER, AND MODIFIED LUBRICANT. A powdered metal blend comprises a lubricating powder conventionally used to produce powdered metal parts in combination with shredded cellulose fibers in an amount less than 2% by weight of the blend. Fragmented cellulose fibers have an average length of less than 150 micrometers and a diameter within the range of about 10 to 20 micrometers. Adding fiber to the lubricant increases the green resistance of a part made by compacting the mixture and improves dimensional conformation.
