An isolated DNA molecule comprising a sequence selected from the group consisting of: (e) SEQ ID NO: 1 (f) DNA sequences that encode an enzyme having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2 (g) DNA sequences that hybridize to the isolated DNA of ( a) or (b) above and which encode the quinolate phosphoribosyl transferase enzyme; and (h) DNA sequences that differ from the DNAs of (a), (b) or (c) above, due to the degeneracy of the genetic code and which encode the quinolate phosphoribosyl transferase enzyme, and constructs comprising said DNA.
