The invention relating to the domain of mechanical solar trackers comprises a dual and a single sun tracker the last being characterised by two categories of trackers: the Polar Axis Tracker (PAT) and the Azimuthal Tracker (AT) ensuring the steady inclination angle of the collector. The subject matter of the invention concerns the modification of the mechanical arrangement of the azimuthal sun tracker operation with the purpose of increasing the performance of this last relative to the dual suntracker. An adequate channel-guide 8 is added on the cylindrical surface 9, which is homoaxial to the azimuthal axis 3 bearing a sliding guide 7 thereon. The base 6 on the rod 5 of which the arms 4 of the collector are articulated is in position to slide lengthwise the aforementioned guide 7. In this way, the motion becomes composite, characterised even by change of the inclination of the collector through the day. The azimuth of the collector is pre-selected via specialized software destined for improving the collector's performance, which -based upon experiments- proves to be superior by 97% all the year round. There are provisions for six-month regulation (summer and winter operational position). The herein disclosed innovative azimuthal sun tracker may be used in solar systems, especially in photovoltaic ones.
