PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical guide wire capable of improving the operability by forming a buoyancy chamber inside the distal end part which may easily hang down with the action of gravity, and having the improved forward propulsive force by utilizing the pressure resistance and difference in the specific gravity.;SOLUTION: In the guide wire 1, the distal end side of a core material with the narrow distal end side and the thick proximal end side is inserted into a coil body 3. At least a coil tip part 31 of the coil body 3 is made of a radiation-impermeable material, and the distal end of the coil body 3 and the distal end of the core material are fixed to each other. Resin coating 4 is applied to the outer periphery of the coil body 3, and the buoyancy chamber is formed inside the coil tip part 31. At the time, the resin coating 4 forms a tubular film 43, whose outer diameter is smaller than that of the coil body 3, in the gap between coil wires of the coil body 3 when the coil body 3 is extended in the moisturized state. Accordingly, the guide wire can be inserted deep into a blood vessel by utilizing the action of the buoyancy chamber together with the increase of the pressure resistance.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
