The invention relates to a device for producing a passive movement of an object and/or part of the body of a patient in a magnetic resonance tomograph comprising a rest (14, 17) which is used to support at least one part of the body (19), for example a joint, of a patient, and can be introduced into the channel (38) of a magnetic resonance tomograph together with a patient bed (35) or the like. According to the invention, the rest (14, 17) can be pivoted about at least one axis (33, 34) inside the channel (38) of the magnetic resonance tomograph in a motor-driven manner. The components of the rest (14, 17) and the drive thereof located inside the channel (38) of the magnetic resonance tomograph consist of non-ferromagnetic materials in order to prevent the creation of image artifacts. The invention also relates to a method for producing (image) records during the passive movement of objects in a magnetic resonance tomograph.
