A photoacoustic gas sensor having a measuring and a reference cell, a radiator arrangement and a microphone arrangement for the measurement of the pressure difference between measuring and reference cell, the measuring cell having an entry window for the radiation emitted by the radiator arrangement, and the radiator arrangement having a light source and a reflector focusing the light emitted by the light source into the measuring cell, characterised in that the radiator arrangement is arranged as close as possible to the entry window of the measuring cell, and in that the reflector has an ellipsoidal shape and comprises segments merging seamlessly into one another and formed by concentric sections of ellipsoids.
