摘要

A heterogeneous catalyst such as disordered, mesoporous, manganosilicate molecular sieves having pore size in the range of 20˚A to 60˚A and a process for the preparation of the same are disclosed in this specification. This invention further provides application of said heterogeneous catalyst for oxidation of alcohol with high selectivity towards aldehyde or ketone. Additionally, the invention provides an environmentally benign, commercial oxidation of 2-n-butyl-4-chloro-imidazole-5-alcohol to 2-n-butyl-4-chloro-imidazole-5-carboxaldehyde using said heterogeneous catalyst in conjunction with ammonium peroxydisulphate as the oxidant.
