A method of converting a source pixel data of a first format for a display of a second format having a plurality of three-color pixel elements is disclosed. The method comprises determining implied sample areas [120] for each data point [122] of each color in the source pixel data of the first format. The resample areas [52] for each emitter of each color in the display is also determined. A set of fractions for each resample area [52] is formed. The denominators are a function of the resample area [52] and the numerators are the function of an area of each of the implied sample areas [120] that at least partially overlaps the resample areas [[52]. The data values for each implied sample area [120] is multiplied by its respective fraction and all products are added together to obtain luminance values for each resample area [52].
