The present invention pertains to mechanical engineering, and it can be used for suppression of forced resonant lateral oscillations of flexible elements (belts, cables, tapes, filaments, etc.) in mechanisms. The objective of the invention is to extend the range of operation speeds of machine. The proposed method is predicted for determination of natural frequency spectrum of flexible element and suppression of its forced resonant oscillations by an action on the system with additional vibration excitation, which initiates the periodic pulsation of axial tension of flexible element with relative amplitude over the range 0,20-0,25 and with frequency exceeding 2.8 to 3 times the lowest natural frequency of flexible element. The essence of the proposed method is described by the example of the device shown in Fig.1. A flexible element (1) is preliminary tensioned between supports (2 and 3) of machine. During operation of the machine the support (3) makes vertical oscillations under the law h(t)=h0sin?t, that causes the kinematical excitation of forced resonance oscillations of flexible element. For suppression of the oscillations an additional vibration excitation is applied to system (for example, by attachement of end of flexible element to a piezoelectric exciter), initiating a pulsation of axial tension T(t) of flexible element with relative amplitude over the range 0,20-0,25 and with frequency exceeding 2,8 to 3 times the lowest natural frequency of flexible element.
