The invention concerns a method for treating a hydrocarbon feedstock comprising sequencing a first upstream hydroconversion treatment process, including at least one reaction chamber, the reaction(s) occurring inside said chambers and involving at least one solid phase and at least one gaseous phase, and a second downstream vapour reforming process, including at least one reaction chamber. The invention is characterized in that said upstream process is carried out in slurry and/or ebullated bed mode and in that said downstream process includes a first step of converting at least partly hydrocarbons heavier than methane into methane, said pre-reforming step and the reaction(s) occurring inside said chambers of the downstream process enabling a reagent, hydrogen, required for the chemical reactions of the former to be produced.
