The packaging is in the form of a box (1) with a rectilinear base (4). The angle between the base and at least one of the short side walls (8) is greater than the angle between the base and long side walls (6) and/or at least one of the short side walls can be pivoted. This allows a slice of the cake to be tilted forward inside the box. The angle between the base and long side walls is 90-110 (90-100) deg. and the angle between the base and short side wall is preferably greater than 100 deg. An independent claim is also included for a method for packing the cake in this packaging, which is designed so that the cake can not slide around inside but allows a slice of cake to be tilted forwards at one end.
