The part of the hat covering the head contains a spiral made from spring steel or a metal such as steel (alloy), iron (alloy), aluminum or copper with similar properties, or made from fibreglass or plastic materials such as polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene, polyurethane, polyamide, polycarbonate, PVC, polyvinyl butyral or polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). This part of the hat is made from e.g. paper, textile or film comprising materials such as nylon, cotton, silk, wool, velour, nonwovens, felt, polyester, plastic or other similar materials. Two cords attached to the spiral on the top side of the hat can be pulled to make the hat smaller, to make one size of the hat taller than the other or to move the hat up and down and side to side.
