The method involves detecting a scene change in a displayed video and detecting a high frequency component having a predetermined pattern in an audio signal. A time difference is calculated between a time when the scene change is detected and a time when the high frequency component is detected. The delay times of the audio signal and the video signal are controlled according to the calculated time difference. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) an audio and video synchronization apparatus, comprising a sync difference calculator (B) a computer readable medium having executable code to synchronize audio and video signals.
