The base layer comprises a thermoplastic elastomer. A mat comprises a base layer of a relatively flexible material with a high friction and a top layer of relatively wear resistant rough material. The base layer comprises a thermoplastic elastomer. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing the mat by supplying the base layer to a roll, depositing an adhesive layer on top of the base layer, heating the assembly in order to melt the adhesive and applying pressure to the top the layer.
