The device (10) comprises a rectilinear, square or round basis chart (20) with an index (50), the center of the chart being the location for a common rotation axis (99) for two discs (40, 70). The chart also includes a display (30) and year selector (60). Rotating the discs allows tidal range, high tide, low tide, tide turn, tide threshold, main and secondary tide ebb flow phases, spring tide configuration, average flow and slack water to be estimated for one or more locations in a given area, at a certain time on a chosen date, or for a selected tide configuration or planetary conjunction. The reciprocal relationships between the tides for different locations are given.
