The serving tray (1) is made of paper and can be placed on support edges of a trolley. It has a base plate (2), two supporting side walls (3,4) and two non-supporting side walls (5,6). On each of the supporting side walls, two horizontally extending support components are fitted. The tray is produced from foldable material such as paper. In order to achieve adequate rigidity, the support components are formed by support strips (7,8), which, together with the supporting side walls, are produced from at least two layers of foldable material. In this way, always on the heavily loaded positions, such as the fold between the support strip and the supporting side walls, an adequate thickness is achieved, for taking up the bending moment without bending too much.
