A strip of taluminum top layer is removed from the top side of the panel in order to expose the core, which is then heated using an electric element and the panel is bent once the core material becomes plastic. A method for bending an aluminum composite panel by heating the thermoplastic substrate is carried out in situ and involves removing a strip of the aluminum top layer from the top side of the panel, the strip having a length equal to the length of the panel and a width of ca. 12 mm. The exposed inner core is then heated using an electric heating element until it adopts a plastic state, at which point the panel is bent.
