A systemic injectable composition for administration of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP), wherein the composition comprises a non-tropism modified, replication-defective, E1- and E3-minus, type 5 (del327) adenovirus comprising a CMV promoter operatively linked to a DNA sequence encoding the BMP.
