A method for preventing, delaying or treating the onset of type I diabetes in a non-human patient comprising administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of an implantable composition comprising living choroid plexus cells. Also disclosed is a method for preventing, delaying or treating autoimmune diseases other than type I diabetes and multiple sclerosis.
