The invention relates to a system for monitoring the stability of the solid spoil banks/active dumps, in order to elaborate a prognosis related to the stability thereof. According to the invention, the monitoring system consists of a network of marks (R0, R1, R2 and R3) and some ultrasonic transducers (T0, T1, T2 and T3) for measuring distances, a programmable automatic device (5) for automatic aquisition of data resulting from measurements and their on-line transmission to a computer (6), for calculating the variation of the sliding prone surfaces.
