The invention relates to a power unit for the supply of auxiliary services in bedroom-type railway waggons which are supplied from the power line of the train of 1500 Vac-50Hz. According to the invention, the power unit comprises a single-phased transformer (5) supplied from the power line of the train with a voltage of 1500 Vac-50 Hz. The secondary voltage is supplied to a main diode rectifier (7) and then it is applied to an IGBT inverter (12, 13) (which operates at frequencies higher than 10 kHz with a view to preventing noise production) outputting into a rectifier (15) and an LC filter (16, 17), one output ensuring the power supply for DC consumers, at the waggon rated voltage of 24Vdc, while the other output ensures the charging of the battery at the optimal voltage (in the range of 26...29 Vdc). The main rectifier output voltage is also applied to a variable DC voltage regulator, thereby obtaining an output DC voltage in the rage of 125...127 Vdc.
