Method for treating and using leaching residue from producing nickel

A leaching residue from reduced nickel-iron ore is mixed with an acid iron ore and/or SiO2 and eventually limestone so that a basicity index in the resulting mixture was 0.9 to 1.6. The leaching residue could be heated at the access of air for lowering the basicity index. The mixture is useful for production iron and slag.
