METHOD FOR PREDICTING THE EFFICIENCY OF PREOPERATIVE RADIOTHERAPY IN PATIENTS WITH RECTAL CANCER

The proposed method for predicting the efficiency of preoperative radiotherapy in patients with rectal cancer implies determining the proliferative activity of the tumor cells before and after the therapy by indirect immunohistochemical reaction and determining the amount of the proliferative tumor cells. The method consists in determining the proliferative activity by a computer image analysis system and, additionally, determining the expressionof the induced form nitrogen oxide synthase. The radiotherapy is inefficient if, after the therapy, the proliferative activity of the proliferative cells exceeds 1,000,000 per 1 mm3, and the expression of the induced form nitrogen oxide synthase exceeds 700,000 of positive iNOS cells per 1 mm3.
