The invention relates to the ferrous metallurgy. A method for smelting of vanadium containing steel involves charging and melting of metal charge in the the melting unit, melt fining, introduction into the melt of vanadium containing materials, reducing agent and cryolite at their ratio of 1: (0,3-0,4): (0,008 - 0,013). The invention allows to increase the degree of vanadium reduction, which raises the quality of direct steel alloying.
