The procedure for assembling plastic components with a honeycomb core structure uses electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of 700-1200 nm e.g. a coherent infrared radiation such as a laser, on components based on a plastic material that is transparent to the radiation. At least one of the components to be assembled has a layer close to at least part of its surface that absorbs the radiation and enables the surfaces to be fused together. The welded components are made by thermoforming and folding a sheet of plastic material, with the radiation absorbing layer situated on either side of the sheet.
