The procedure for assembling plastic components with a honeycomb core structure uses electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of 700-1200 nm e.g. a coherent infrared radiation such as a laser, on components based on a plastic material that is transparent to the radiation. At least one of the components to be assembled has a layer close to at least part of its surface that absorbs the radiation and enables the surfaces to be fused together. The procedure for assembling plastic components with a honeycomb core structure uses electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of 700-1200 nm e.g. a coherent infrared radiation such as a laser, on components based on a plastic material that is transparent to the radiation. At least one of the components to be assembled has a layer close to at least part of its surface that absorbs the radiation and enables the surfaces to be fused together. The welded components are made by thermoforming and folding a sheet of plastic material, with the radiation absorbing layer situated on either side of the sheet. They can be, for example, in the form of finishing sheets on each side of a cellular core made by a continuous process.
