The device has a laminar display support (3) with raised screen dots that are formed by pins, where the pins selectively protrude through openings on a surface of the display support. The pins are fixed in the display support and are rotatably mounted with the aid of shafts such that the characters that are to be read are displayable by erection and/or tilting of the pins below the surface of the display support. The display support is made of a metal film that is structured by photochemical etching. An independent claim is also included for a method for indicating a laminar display on a braille reading device.
