Device for the characterization of ultrasound materials with gas (air) coupling and its application to carry out a non-destructive test to verify the integrity of porous membranes. Non-destructive procedure to verify the integrity and filtration properties of porous membranes used in applications such as filtration, ultrafiltration, osmosis, dialysis, etc. High frequency ultrasonic signals (0.5-2.5 MHz) are used. Air coupling is used, that is, between the sample and the ultrasonic emitting and receiving devices there is an air layer. Mechanical resonances are excited in the sample and from the spectral analysis of them the membrane density, ultrasound velocity and attenuation are obtained. These mechano-acoustic parameters are closely related to properties of the porous medium (pore size, permeability, etc.) and other filtration properties (bubble point, fluid flow under standard conditions, etc.).
