The detector has sensors placed in individual protection equipment in predetermined positions, and connected to a signal generating circuit. The signal generating circuit produces and transmits a signal or code with power to a wireless transmitter. A receiver circuit has one or several sensors to detect the signal transmitted from the individual protection equipment which is arranged in a work zone. The receiving circuit decodes the received signal or code, and sends the decoded signal to a logic circuit which determines the presence or absence of the individual protection equipment.
