A system repression of translation for use in cloning or expression of a specific heterologous gene, said system comprising a protein translational repressor encoding an operably linked to a constitutive promoter region and said heterologous gene operably linked to a inducible promoter and a recognition site of the repressor, and wherein the translational repressor controls expression of said heterologous and where the binding site of the repressor protein includes the sequence of ribosome binding and initiation codon gene, but does not cover additional heterologous gene coding regions.
