An apparatus for the treatment of gases in a positive crankcaseventilation (PCV) system, in an internal combustion engine, isprovided with a housing defining a gas treatment chamber. At leastone gas filtering medium is disposed in the treatment chamber, andthe gases from the engine crankcase are passed through the gasfiltering medium in the treatment chamber, before the gases arerouted into the air intake portion of the engine. In addition, thegases, after passage through the gas filtering medium, are passedthrough an ionization device.
