The invention relates to a method for production of l-cysteine or l-cysteinederivatives by means of a fermentationwith micro-organisms and micro-organisms suitable for said method. The micro-organism strain adapted to fermentative productionof l-cysteine or l-cysteine derivatives comprises a deregulated cysteinemetabolism which is not dependent upon an altered cysBactivity. Said micro-organism strain is furthermore characterized by anelevated cysB activity, whereby the cysB activity comprisesa regulation pattern typical for a wild type cysB.
