The invention relates to a composition for coating fruits, vegetables, fowleggs, and especially for organically-grown produce, useful for protection andextension of the shelf life of said fruits, vegetables and fowl eggs, whereinsaid composition is an aqueous dispersion comprised of: (a) a hydrophobiccomponent comprising at least one member of the following group consisting ofnatural wax, or vegetable oil; (b) an alkali agent; (c) water;whereincomponents (a) and (b) are derived from natural biological sources.Theinvention also relates to a method for application of the composition.
