A device is disclosed for forming a woodturning tool, the device being for usewith anelongate wood-cutting bit and an elongate wooden handle. The bit has a shankand acutting portion. The handle has a handpiece and a frustoconical end. Thedevicecomprises a body. The body defines: a first recess; a second recess; at leastonethreaded bore; and an interior thread surrounding the second recess. The firstrecessreceives the shank in use. The body is threaded to the end of the handle inuse, toprovide for secure receipt of said end by said body. The at least one threadedboreextends from said first recess through said body. The device further comprisesa setscrew for each threaded bore and threadably engaged therein, in use, to bearagainstthe bit and releasably lock the bit in said first recess, to form said wood-turning tool.
