A system (30) and method are provided for improving the operational performanceof a moving cement mixer vehicle (10) with a rotatable mixing drum (20) by automaticallystopping the rotation of the mixing drum at select moments. The system may includea sensor (40, 42, 44) adapted to deliver a signal indicative of an operationalparameter, such as steering angle of the vehicle, and a processing unit (46) adaptedto receive the signal from the sensor and deliver a control signal based on thesignal for stopping rotation of the mixing drum.
