A bracket (2) is provided for receiving a panel (1) . The bracket (2) has a first part (3) for securing to a structure (20) to be protected such as a window of a building or automobile. A second part (4) is connected to the first part (3) in a form-fitting manner. The first (3) and second (4) parts define a chamber there-between for receiving and securing the panel (1) hi the chamber and thus to the structure (20). Preferably, the panel (1) is a bullet-resistant panel.
