NOVEL β-CYCLODEXTRIN-BASED MOLECULES AND DRUG DELIVERY COMPOSITIONS

The present invention provides for novel β-cyclodextrin-based molecules of formula (I), wherein X is a molecule of net positive or negative charge at physiologic conditions and Y is a molecule selected from the group consisting of carbohydrates and polypeptides. The molecules are useful for the delivery of compounds to a mammal, more particularly for the intracellular delivery of nucleotides, nucleotide analogues or compounds with a heterocyclic base. Also provided for are novel therapeutic complexes comprising the novel β-cyclodextrin-based molecules complexed with nucleotide analogues or heterogeneous or homogeneous oligomers comprised of nucleotide analogues.
