An object of the invention is to provide a cancer-like mutant derived from a normal gastric mucosal cell which is useful for screening an anticancer agent for stomach cancer. The cancer-like mutant of the invention as a means for achieving the object is prepared by transforming a normal gastric mucosal cell. The cancer-like mutant of the invention can be prepared by, for example, culturing a normal gastric mucosal cell in the presence of a carcinogen thereby to transform it.
