In order to discover and automatically compose especially web services and other components, the invention relates to a method and a system for the partly automated creation of a database from profiles of electronic services available in a computer network, said profiles comprising the parameters of the functionality of the electronic services. The inventive method encompasses the following automated steps: a) a search request for electronic services in the computer network is generated; b) the search request is used for determining documents containing information regarding at least one electronic service in the computer network; c) at least one entry of at least one profile of an electronic services is created; d) the entry is stored in the database. An analysis is made in step c) while ontology parameters and parameters of the functionality of the electronic services are determined and are adopted in the entry of at least one profile of an electronic service in step c).
