PBO fibers, PBO fiber-containing sheets and assemblies thereof, having improved of properties after exposure to high humidity.The PBO fibers are encapsulated by anhydrous means in a sealant material having a water vapor permeasbility of less than 25x10SUP-11 /SUPcmSUP3 /SUP(stp) cm/(cmSUP2/SUP sec.Pa) as measured by ASTM E 96-95 (Procedure E) at 37.8°C, Inn the case of PBO fiber-containing sheets, the sealant material partially fills volume between the fibers.
