To plan and erect free-standing stairs, at least partially in a spiral, they are composed of prefabricated steps with prepared holes and screw bonding rods, the curved stair sections in a 4-6 step module are combined with straight stair modules. The dimensions of the stair components are calculated to give the required stair shape at the center, start and end of the modules. The steps, in standard sizes, are cut smoothly so that the bottom and top steps, and the following steps have an identical mirror image, so that when viewed in plan the assembled module is a cube with an inner corner cut round.
