Polyester films comprising, in turn, a base layer (B), a cover layer (A) and a barrier layer (D) are such that (1) layer (B) contains poly(m-xylene-adipamide); and (2) layer (D) consists of a blend of a film-forming material and a maleic acid/acrylic acid copolymer. An Independent claim is also included for production of the films by coextrusion of a film, longitudinal stretching, coating with barrier layer (D), transverse stretching and heat fixing.
