A nozzle (18) for an injection molding apparatus has a nozzle body (19) and a nozzle tip (24). A securing device (46) is used to secure the nozzle tip (24) to the nozzle body (19) via non-metallic threads (50) or threads (50) having a non-metallic coating that mate with complementary threads (54) on the nozzle body (19). In this example, through use of the non-metallic threads (50) or threads (50) having a non-metallic coating, the securing device (46) has a longer life than conventional securing devices by eliminating or substantially reducing thread galling.
