The invention relates to a method for encoding functional network entities on the basis of network functions exchanging at least one signal by means of a reference point of a telecommunications network model in which (A) the signal exchanges are represented in the form of a modelling sequence diagram, each network function {Fv}v=V V=1 being encoded according to a unary functional network entity {EF1v}v=Vv=1, (B) the calculation is performed repetitively on the basis of at least one scenario of a business relevance indicator (I(?F)) for the regrouping of functional network entities into a same functional network entity, and (C) the paired regrouping of two functional network entities into a single current functional entity (EF1 U EF2) = EFC is encoded according to a regrouping relevance threshold value S(EF1, EF2) and a regrouping gain value T(EF1 U EF2), equal to the relation of the value of the business relevance indicator value (I(?F)) of the paired regrouping of the functional network entities and the regrouping relevance threshold value. The invention can be applied to the improvement of telecommunication network performances.
